Strategic objectives

Study of lipid metabolism, especially cholesterol, in physiology and pathology, with the purpose of establishing the biological role of certain lipids, identifying mechanisms and designing strategies with a therapeutic potential.

Research lines

  • Actions of cholesterol in cell proliferation.
  • Food allergy.
  • Effect of drugs with amphiphilic amine nature on lipid homeostasis.
  • Alterations in intracellular lipid trafficking.
  • Effects of lipid metabolism alteration in male fertility.
  • Functionality of HDLs and their alterations.
  • Regulation of gene expression in obesity and its relationship with lipid metabolism.
  • Lipidomics applied to the study of disease-related metabolic alterations.
