At IRYCIS 6 Priority Research Areas are established, each one coordinated by 2 directors, with a basic mission to: i) ensure the achievement of the objectives set for their area overall; ii) guarantee communication and collaboration between the different research groups; iii) guide the emerging groups and the associate clinical researchers to achieve their progressive integration into the consolidated group level.

Dr. Ana María Álvarez Díaz
Pharmacist adjunct in the Pharmacy Service since December 2005. Head of Section from 2015 to October 2018. Coordinator of the Medical Day Hospital of the Ramón y Cajal University Hospital from October 2018 to November 2019. Head of Service of the Pharmacy Service since November 2019 (acting), with definitive appointment since December 18, 2020.
Doctor in Pharmacy from the Complutense University of Madrid. University Expert in Health Management from the Menéndez Pelayo International University. Master in Clinical and Healthcare Pharmacy in the Pharmaceutical Care environment from the University of Valencia. Master in Molecular Oncology from the Francisco de Vitoria University. Diploma in Applied Statistics from the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
Patron of the FIBioHRC-The Foundation for Biomedical Research of the Ramón y Cajal University Hospital since 2019.
Author of more than 60 scientific publications and researcher in more than 30 research projects. Collaborating researcher in a FIS project funded by the Carlos III Health Institute and a Rio Hortega. Member of the Editorial Committee of the Farmacia Hospitalaria Journal (journal of the Spanish Society of Hospital Pharmacy).
Researcher at the Ramón y Cajal Institute for Health Research IRYCIS and Head of the IRYCIS access research group "DRUG UTILISATION AND HEALTH OUTCOMES OF PHARMACOTHERAPY".
Extensive experience in projects related to the safety of the use of medicines and health outcomes in real life; applied innovation projects to improve the use of medicines, including projects with AI (e.g.: ADHAN Project for the prediction of lack of adherence in patients on treatment with oral antineoplastics); humanization and quality, among other areas.

Dr. Alfonso Muriel García
Biostatistician since 2001 in the Clinical Biostatistics Unit of the Ramón y Cajal University Hospital. Researcher at the Ramón y Cajal Institute for Health Research IRYCIS. Associate professor at the University of Alcalá, where he teaches courses on research methodology and biostatistics at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Active member of group 42 of the CIBER of Epidemiology and Public Health (CIBERESP).
PhD in Preventive Medicine and Public Health from the Autonomous University of Madrid. Master's degree in quantitative methods in epidemiological research from the Autonomous University of Madrid. Graduate in applied statistics from the Complutense University of Madrid. Expert in research methodology and statistical analysis applied to biomedical research, with more than 20 years of experience in multidisciplinary health projects.
Author of more than 270 publications in which he has participated from the methodological design, statistical analysis and validation of observational studies of effectiveness and causality with analysis of large databases. He has been Principal Investigator in two FIS projects funded by the Carlos III Health Institute, contributing to the advancement of applied science in health, and Collaborating Investigator in a dozen national and European projects.
High commitment to scientific excellence, training and ethics in research. Member of the ethics committee. President of the clinical commission for continuing education and hospital library and member of the continuing education commission of IRYCIS.
