Direction and Technical Unit
In accordance with Article 25 of its Statutes, the Foundation's top management corresponds to its Director. Since 2022, Laura Barreales Tolosa is the Director of the FIBioHRC, taking over from José Ignacio Flores Nicolás, who remains as Administrator.
Laura Barreales is a doctor specialising in Preventive Medicine, Master in Public Health, Master in Research Management and expert in International Project Management, among other postgraduate training. She has developed her own research career and teaches in several intramural and external research methodology and management programmes.
In her internal work, she has led the working groups in the two re-accreditations passed by the Institute, in addition to her previous experience in the accreditation of other Institutes. Together with the Scientific Director of IRYCIS, she is the institutional representative in the European Translational Research Infrastructure (EATRIS). She has coordinated the HRS4R strategy in human resources at IRYCIS, in order to obtain the European Commission Seal of Excellence. She is editor-in-chief of the scientific report and member of the IRYCIS Innovation Committee.
José Ignacio Flores is an economist with a Master's degree in Research Management, in Senior Management in Public Administration, in Hospital Management and in Auditing, among other specialised training.
The Foundation's Technical Unit, referred to in Article 26 of its Statutes, is the body responsible for the management and administration of the Foundation's resources and assets, as well as for supporting the development and promotion of research and other action plans. It constitutes the technical-administrative support of the Institute and the structure in charge of the integral management of IRYCIS research.
The Technical Unit is headed by Vicente Martín Izquierdo and is structured into three functional groups known as "offices", according to the nature and main purpose of its activities:
